In 1999, I opened In Absentia Pet Care of Cranbury. I developed wonderful relationships with some great families and their fabulous pets. Then, in 2004, my family had to move away from Cranbury due to my husband's job taking us to Alabama. We kept our home in Cranbury, though, just in case we could find our way back to our historic town.
While sojourning in the Deep South, I improved my understanding of dog behavior and training by enrolling in the Animal Behavior College's Dog Trainer Certification Program . This program involved book-based learning, hands-on learning, working with shelter dogs, being mentored by an accredited trainer of long-standing, evaluations of my training ability by my mentor, 9 chapter examinations, and a comprehensive 3 day final exam. The program took a year and a half to complete. I graduated with honors from ABC and am now an ABCDT - Animal Behavior College Certified Dog Trainer.
I am a member of the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters. NAPPS is the largest non-profit professional pet sitting organization in the country. And they are based right here in Mount Laurel, New Jersey. While awaiting my return to Cranbury, I studied for and achieved my professional pet-sitter certification through NAPPS. This involved coursework covering pet health and safety issues as well as business issues, culminating in a comprehensive final exam.
I am certified in Pet First Aid through the American Red Cross.
I am bonded and insured through the Business Insurers of the Carolinas. This is the only insurer specializing in providing liability insurance and dishonesty bonding to the pet sitting industry. They also provide specialized insurance for dog trainers.
I am a member of the Cranbury Business Professional Association.
